19-6-101. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.
The Tribal Council finds that pollution of the waters of the Reservation constitutes a menace to public health and welfare, is harmful to fish, wildlife, and aquatic life, and impairs domestic, agricultural, industrial, recreational, and other beneficial uses of water. The purpose of this Chapter is to:
- Conserve the waters of the Reservation;
- Protect, maintain, and improve the quality of the waters of the Reservation for the propagation of fish and wildlife, and for domestic, industrial, agricultural, municipal, recreational, and other beneficial uses;
- Provide for the prevention, abatement, and control of new or existing water pollution; and
- Provide a basis for cooperation as necessary and appropriate with other sovereign governments, including other Indian tribes, states and the federal government, to achieve these purposes.
