5-37-3. Persons Knowing of Abuse

Any person knowing or having reasonable cause to suspect that a disabled adult or elderly person has been abused other than by accidental means shall report such abuse to the appropriate law enforcement agency. The report must be in writing and shall contain the name, age, and address of the disabled adult or elderly person, the name and address of the alleged perpetrator, the nature and extent of the abuse, and any other pertinent information known to the person making the report. Any person who intentionally fails to make a report required by this section will share liability.
