1-2-1. GUARDIAN DEFINED.
A guardian is a person appointed to take care of the person or property of another. The person over whom or over whose property a guardian is appointed is called a ward. A general guardian is the guardian of the person or of all property of the ward within this state or of both. Every-other is a special guardian. A guardian ad litem is a person appointed to represent the interests of any minor or incompetent in any lawsuit or matter pending before any Court. Guardian ad litem shall be appointed pursuant to Rule 17 (c) of the Rules of Civil Procedure. All other guardians shall be appointed as provided by this chapter.
