Article III – Oath of Office

Each member of the Sicangu Council and each officer or subordinate officer, elected or appointed hereunder shall take an oath of office prior to assuming the duties thereof; by which oath, he shall pledge himself to support and defend the Constitution and By-Laws of the Sicangu nation and the Treaties entered into with the United States Government or other Governments.

(Oath)  I, ______________________, do hereby solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the Sicangu Nation against all enemies as identified in treaties or by the Sicangu People and I will carry out faithfully, and impartially, the duties of my office to the best of my ability; and will cooperate, promote and protect the best interests of my Tribe, the Sicangu Nation, in accordance with this Constitution and By-Laws.  (Amendment Z effective September 20, 2007 – vote 504 for; 269 against; 33 ballots spoiled or mutilated)
